Personal Bankruptcy

In Canada, filing for bankruptcy means that you legally assign, or in other words surrender control of your non-exempt assets to a person who is a Licensed Insolvency Trustee for the general benefit of the creditors. In exchange, your un-payable and dischargeable debts are eliminated. Licensed Insolvency Trustee Jean Lazard and his team understand what you are going through and can help. Whether you are located in Ottawa, Cornwall, Kingston, Hawkesbury or Brockville, Jean has helped thousands of people, just like you, through this very difficult time.

Credit Counselling

Credit Counselling Ottawa. Our Ottawa Credit counselling service can help you place your financial affairs under control. It is also known as debt counselling and consumer credit counselling. Feel free to call and speak with one of our credit counsellors here in Ottawa, the consultation is free and most people find it very helpful. Credit counselling includes help with personal budgeting to help you understand and control your finances and avoid future problems. It also includes possible debt negotiation and settlement with your creditors through a Debt Management Plan.

Consumer Proposals

A consumer proposal is a formal, legally binding process that is administered by a Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT). In this process, the LIT will work with you to develop a “proposal”—which is an offer to pay creditors a percentage of what is owed to them or extend the time you have to pay off the debts, or both. The term of a consumer proposal cannot exceed five years. Feel free to contact our office to find out more about filing a consumer proposal. We are here to help!

I can honestly say that I have been extremely pleased in my dealings with Jean and his team at Lazard & Associates and would recommend them to anyone.
